Our Distinction
After evaluating a number of foundations and planned-giving outsourcing firms, Safe Harbor Christian Foundation was created and uniquely positioned to meet all of the economic and operational concerns of both charities and donors. Safe Harbor’s distinctiveness is apparent for the following three reasons:
Education: Our expertise includes both estate and tax law, and we seek to educate and develop solutions that equally benefit both the charity and donor. Unlike secular foundations and estate planners, Safe Harbor has a Christian worldview and desires to promote time-honored biblical ministries.
Facilitation: Compared to other outsourcing firms, Safe Harbor is uniquely positioned to offer its planned giving services at no cost to the charity or tothe donor. Safe Harbor earns an administrative fee directly from the trust funds and this relieves charities of the cash flow problems of hiring personnel to generate funds and administer operations. Since Safe Harbor does not render legal advice, the only out of pocket costs that the donor may incur would be from his legal advisor. Our objectivity allows us to critically evaluate both the donor’s family needs and charitable goals.
Coordination: Safe Harbor is not a competing charity. Distinct from otherChristian organizations that may offer similar services, Safe Harbor does not have any mission other than to be a supporting entity to both the charity and the donor. In other words, we are not going to try to appeal to a charity’s donor base to give to Safe Harbor. We can be objective with donors because our survival is not contingent upon their contributions. We provide all the administration, tax, and compliance work necessary to maintain a planned giving program.
SHCF provides all transfer documentation, broker fees, and end of year tax reporting. There are no setup fees or ongoing administrative charges. Unlike most other organizations, 100% of the assets are placed within a Reserve Fund prudently invested in high-grade bonds and other conservative investments assuring the annuitants the security of their income. SHFC neither pays or receives any commissions or marketing fees.
